Keychron never recalled the Q Max or V Max. Is it fixed?

In July 2025 Keychron told r/Keychron that its Q Max and V Max boards lose contact between switch pins and the hot swap sockets. A year on there has been no recall, no replacement plates, and no firmware fix for the ISO versions.

What Keychron actually said

  • the pins are “slightly detached from the sockets after long-term use”
  • “another factor is that the gaskets are too soft”
  • “the majority of issues have been fixed”, with no batch numbers or dates
  • the remedy is a support article: swap the switch, flash firmware, raise debounce, press the board down firmly three to five times, or take it apart and straighten the plate by hand
  • no recall, no free plates, no extended warranty for boards already sold

The catch

Keychron never used the word defect or the word recall, though the community and TechPowerUp both did. What is missing is recourse: Keychron’s own support article sits at 8 of 82 finding it helpful, about one in ten.

The firmware trail is worse. Keychron’s firmware page lists 1.1.2 for the V6 Max ANSI, dated 15 May 2025, which “fixed key double-click issue caused by snap action” and set debounce to 50. The ISO version of the same board is still on 1.1.0 from 19 March 2025. Asked in January, Keychron said the ANSI update “primarily addresses bug fixes specific to the ANSI layout, and there are no new changes required for the ISO version at this time”, though ISO owners are the ones reporting the fault. Debounce changes hide the symptom rather than keeping the pins seated.

Where it stands now

Keychron’s answer was a new generation rather than a repair programme: the Q Ultra 8K and V1 Ultra 8K moved to ZMK firmware with new Milk POM switches and a redesign, Best Buy first, wider in early 2026. The Max boards that started this still list at $109.99 for the V6 Max and $219.99 for the Q6 Max today.
