Read the tolerance, not the headline number
The 40±15 gf operating force looks light next to a 60 to 75 gf bump, and that is the point: you push through clear resistance at the bump, then the switch carries on down. But ±15 gf is a wide window, so one batch can feel noticeably lighter or heavier than the next, and the review does not measure a sample to show where Kailh’s real spread lands. The 1.8±0.4 mm pre-travel is shorter than the classic 2.0 mm, and 3.6±0.3 mm total travel is a touch more compact than the standard 4.0 mm. RGBKeys repeats Kailh’s figures rather than publishing its own force curve, so treat the 80M cycle rating as a spec sheet number, not a tested one.
What it sits between
- Kailh Coco Pink Box V2: extra light linear, low sound, aimed at gaming and light typists
- Kailh Red Bean Pudding Box: light linear, low sound, gaming and office
- Kailh Box White: clicky BOX switch, for typists who want an audible click
- Classic 4.0 mm travel switches: longer throw than the 3.6 mm here
No price and no release date appear in the article, and the store’s own product listing does not currently show the switch, so retail availability is unconfirmed.
Would you take a 60 to 75 gf bump on a 40 gf operating force, or is that ±15 gf spread too wide to trust sight unseen?
